Exploring Wyoming always leads to unexpected moments of peace. In this post, we visit Little Half Moon Lake—a quiet spot surrounded by Wyoming’s rugged beauty. Join us as we fish, hike, and reflect on God’s presence in nature. Whether you love nature photography, Christian reflections, or simply beautiful places in Wyoming, this story will bring you calm and inspiration.
This weekend, we decided to take things slow and explore a place we hadn’t visited in a long time—Little Half Moon Lake. It’s a small, peaceful lake tucked away in Wyoming’s wild beauty, and for a couple of hours, it felt like the world stood still.
We left the children at home and had Little Half Moon all to ourselves. The air was crisp, and you could almost see the cold shimmering in the evening light. Conor cast his line into the lake a few times while I wandered along the shore, camera in hand, soaking in the quiet. There’s something about being out there, away from everything, that makes you feel close to God.
Exploring the Creek
Near where we parked, there’s a small trailhead that leads down to the creek. We decided to follow it. The creek was unusually low, revealing all the rocks that usually hide beneath the surface. It was like seeing a different side of something familiar—how the water shapes and smooths each stone over time.

Our family is full of mountain goats, and Conor is definitely one of them. He crossed the creek and hiked to the tallest rock on the other side. In less than ten minutes, he was at the top, taking in the view and following a game trail across the ridge. From up there, the world must have looked endless.
Finding Stillness and Gratitude
While Conor was exploring, I sat down on a rock near the water and listened to the sound of it running beneath my feet. It was one of those quiet, sacred moments that fill your heart before you even realize it.

I found myself thanking Christ—for showing us what it means to truly love and trust in God, for giving His life for ours. I thanked Him for bringing us to Wyoming, this place where I finally found peace because I found Him. And for blessing me with a loving husband who helps me do things I never imagined possible—like sitting on that rock, living my dream of being a wildlife and nature photographer.

When Conor returned from his hike, we made our way back to the lake. He cast his line a few more times, and as the light began to fade, we packed up and called it a day.
It wasn’t an adventure full of grand moments or wild encounters, but it was something deeper—a reminder that peace doesn’t always come from doing more, but from being still long enough to notice God’s presence around you.
