First Steps Into the Morning
For more than two months, I followed a Sandhill Crane family in Pinedale, Wyoming. Morning after morning, I returned before sunrise, standing quietly in the cool air, waiting for the light and the birds to reveal another piece of their story. Some days offered only brief glimpses. Others rewarded patience with moments that felt like gifts.
This photograph was made at dawn as soft pink light spread across the landscape and wrapped this young crane in a gentle glow. Watching this little one grow from a tiny chick into a curious explorer reminded me that some of life's most beautiful lessons happen slowly. Through God's creation, I witnessed patience, trust, and the steady care of devoted parents guiding their young through an ever-changing world.
