Moose Morning Notebook

There are moments in the Wyoming wilderness that feel almost heaven-sent — quiet encounters that stay with you long after the sun rises. This notebook was inspired by one of those mornings.
While walking one of my favorite places in Pinedale, Wyoming, I felt my plans unexpectedly shift. I turned around to greet an old friend, unaware that those few redirected steps would lead me straight into something unforgettable. Out of the soft blue light of dawn appeared a baby moose and its mother — peaceful, wild, and completely at home in the stillness of the morning.
For one brief second, the baby moose and I startled each other. Then he ran gently back to his mama as the first light of sunrise wrapped around them, the last whispers of night still resting on their fur. It was one of those rare moments that reminds you nature is not only beautiful — it’s deeply sacred.
