I normally pack up after golden hour — the light fades, and so does the chance for wildlife. But this day was different. It was March 19th, my birthday, and I felt God nudging me to spend it in the Grand Tetons. I arrived before sunrise, chasing both the wildlife and the peace that always finds me there.
God painted the sky with soft pastels, but the valleys were empty. No elk. No moose. No bighorns. Hours passed. Noon came and went. But something in me said, try one more time. So at 1 p.m., as a last hope, I went searching for bighorn sheep.
And then — there he was. One lone ram, standing strong against the rugged Tetons. It was only him and me, sharing a quiet moment in the middle of Wyoming’s vastness. But before long, more began to appear… then more… until suddenly, I wasn’t alone at all. I was surrounded by a whole herd.
