In January 2022, Fremont Lake froze clear, revealing a sight that felt otherworldly. The surface looked like a portal to another universe, and we were the first to step onto it that day. Walking on a frozen lake is an experience we never take for granted, and this time, it felt like we’d discovered a galaxy beneath our feet.

While Conor cast his line for ice fishing, I set up my tripod and began capturing what caught my eye. The light on the lake was incredible, illuminating hidden textures and depths in the ice. Each photo took about half an hour to create, carefully framing and refocusing until I could feel the vastness of that frozen expanse captured in each shot.

A hot drink in my travel mug kept me warm as I moved from one spot to the next, searching for new angles and patterns in the ice. Holding the mug in the chill of Wyoming’s winter reminded me of why I love it so much. This travel mug isn’t just practical; it’s like carrying a bit of warmth and wonder wherever I go, letting me savor the comfort of each unique discovery—even those that feel like galaxies beneath my feet.
