Christmas Eve 2022 took us to Half Moon Lake, a perfect alpine setting for the holiday. As the first light crept over the horizon, it felt like a gift, gently waking up everything around us. Sunrises are always special, but on this day, the glow seemed to magnify every blessing God had given us over the past year.

Stepping onto the frozen lake, auger in hand, we prepared for a favorite winter ritual—ice fishing. The ice was eight inches thick and slick, and despite my usual clumsiness, I only fell once. There’s something incredible about standing in the middle of the lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, casting lines into deeper water with the hope of a bigger catch. Out there, in the heart of nature’s quiet, each sip from my travel mug was a warm reminder of the tranquility these moments bring.
