Living in Wyoming feels like a gift from God every single day. One of the greatest blessings is never knowing what wildlife might appear outside our window. In late summer, sage grouse often visit our yard, turning an ordinary afternoon into something unforgettable.
The day I created this photograph, a small group of sage grouse stayed with me for only a few minutes. Just long enough for the warm light to settle gently across their feathers and for me to capture this quiet moment. I still remember the excitement of seeing them there, knowing I had only a short window before they disappeared back into the sage.
What makes this image especially meaningful to me is the way the bricks from our backyard softly appear in the scene. Every time I look at it, I'm reminded of God's goodness and how blessed we are to call Wyoming home. It's a simple detail, but it connects this wild bird to the place where our everyday life unfolds.
