Sometimes, the best moments in nature come with a little struggle. A nature-inspired tote is a reminder of those times when you push through the challenges to capture something truly beautiful.

The struggle was real that day—I fought with Cuache to get these fantastic shots of the Eared Grebe. He wanted to jump into Boulder Lake to get closer, but, like a good boy, he stayed on a rock, watching me.

Meanwhile, I was in my element, so excited to see the Eared Grebe up close. I love learning about their behavior on the fly, and even more when I get to edit the photos later. You can see how they stretch their necks while swimming, peering into the water for food. They feast on brine shrimp, brine flies, and even small fish or amphibians. When they find something, they dive, leaving perfect ripples behind.

I noticed something special when editing the photos: when they dive, their back feathers collapse, making them more streamlined underwater. It’s fascinating how nature works, and I’m grateful to spend time with these little birdies.
