What if the quietest creature on the roadside held the loudest truth you’ve been needing to hear?

Thanks to my photography, I get to know God, the world, myself—and somehow, you too. Every time I step outside, I ask the Lord to guide my eyes, not toward what I expect, but toward whatever part of His creation is ready to speak. On this morning, all I wanted was to feel the world move with the sunrise… and God placed an owl in my path.

I was halfway to one of my favorite places when a shape by the roadside made my heart stutter—an owl, grounded, calm, as if waiting for someone who needed a reminder to slow down. I pulled over, barely remembering to put the car in park, grabbed my gear, and stepped out into air that smelled like cold dirt and morning light. In the seconds that followed, everything had to align: the silence, his trust, the first warm rays stretching over the horizon.

He lifted from the ground to a nearby pole, wings whispering against the stillness, and suddenly… we were eye to eye. I’d never seen an owl at my level before. It felt like God leveled the ground just so that moment could exist.

The light was unreal—one side of him still wrapped in the blue of a sleeping world, the other kissed by sun, glowing with gold. You could almost feel the warmth on your own face, see the softness of each feather, sense the mystery owls carry like a cloak. And as I stood there, I realized this wasn’t just about capturing a photograph. It was about holding onto a feeling that most people rush past: the quiet reassurance that you’re being guided, watched over, and invited to breathe again.
