Moose at First Light
Most people rush past this quiet giant without realizing they're looking at one of God's greatest masterpieces.
There is something deeply comforting about bringing home a piece of creation that reminds you to slow down. This photograph is more than a moose standing among the sagebrush—it is a reminder that God still fills ordinary days with extraordinary gifts for those willing to notice.
Every time I drive through Grand Teton National Park, I carry the same quiet hope. Sometimes the roads are empty. Sometimes hours pass without a single wildlife sighting. I scan every patch of willow, watch the morning mist lift from the valley, and wait as the first golden light spills across the landscape. On this morning, everything finally came together. The soft sunrise illuminated the moose's rich coat, frost lingering in the moose's back, the cool mountain air carried the earthy scent of wet sagebrush, and for a few peaceful moments, the entire world seemed to stand still.
That is why this photograph matters. The waiting was worth it because moments like these cannot be rushed. They are received. God reminded me that His most beautiful gifts often come after patience, faith, and quiet expectation.
