For two weeks, Wyoming becomes a completely different world—and then God takes it away.

As I photograph this landscape, the leaves are already changing, fading, and preparing to fall. The air carries that unmistakable autumn chill, the trees glow with reds, golds, and oranges, and somewhere beyond my frame, Conor is fishing while my children run and play. I set my camera on a tripod, add a neutral-density filter, and let the shutter stay open for 30 seconds. Then I set the timer, press the shutter, and step away. Even the smallest vibration can change the final image.

While the camera works, I try to stop and take it all in.

The cool air on my skin. The quiet movement of the trees. The sounds of my family enjoying the place we call home. The knowledge that this scene will soon look completely different.

That is why this photograph felt worthy of becoming something lasting. The season was already disappearing as I stood there making the image.

I dedicate my work to God and Jesus, thanking them for every blessing and asking the Holy Spirit to fill me as I create. Every fall, through the trees, I feel like God is quietly reminding me that change doesn't mean something has gone wrong. Sometimes we simply have to let go and trust that He is leading us into what comes next.
