Pronghorn in My Backyard… and Then Everything Changed

Sometimes the Greatest Adventures Happen Right Outside Your Door

Staying home that day didn’t feel like missing out… it felt like a gift.

Out here in Wyoming, sometimes all you have to do is step outside and be still. God takes care of the rest.

The light was soft, slipping through the clouds like a quiet blessing. It wrapped everything in a gentle glow, the kind that makes you stop and breathe a little deeper. And there they were… pronghorn, right in my backyard.

A Sacred Encounter With Wyoming Pronghorn

Four does and one buck moved carefully across the land, sharing space with a few deer while still keeping their distance. Close, but never fully together. It felt like watching two worlds exist side by side in quiet harmony.

The does were curious. They kept looking my way, trying to figure me out. I moved slowly, following them just enough to stay close without disturbing the moment. My heart felt steady but full, like I had stepped into something sacred I didn’t earn.

Then suddenly, everything shifted.

One small sound. One unseen movement.

And they were gone.

Just like that.

Wildlife Teaches Us How Fragile Beautiful Moments Are

That moment reminded me how fragile these encounters can be. How quickly they come and go. And how lucky we are to witness them at all.

Living among wildlife in Wyoming has taught me that beauty rarely announces itself loudly. Sometimes God speaks through silence, through stillness, through soft light breaking across sagebrush while wild animals move freely across the land.

Sharing the earth with something this wild and beautiful humbles you. It brings you back to what matters. And maybe it reminds you that God is always working — even in the quiet, even right outside your door.

If this moment with Wyoming’s wild beauty spoke to you, there are a few ways to support my work and help me keep sharing these stories from the field.

You can follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to stay connected with my wildlife encounters and photography journeys. Subscribing to the newsletter is another great way to get these stories directly in your inbox. If you’d like to support more directly, you can explore my online store and bring a piece of Wyoming into your own space, or simply buy me a coffee to help fuel the early mornings, long waits, and quiet moments behind the lens.

Every bit of support truly makes a difference and helps me keep telling these stories from out here.
